MAY 2024 END OF MONTH TRAINING RIDE

DSAR Training Event

Sun 26 May 2024 - 9:00 am

Wellington

Ride Leader: Dave Eaton

Ride Sweeper: Steve Williams

Theme: Cornering

The theme of the training ride is cornering. Review of Motorcycle Roadcraft (The Police Rider’s Handbook) is recommended, Chapter 7 pp139-174 for the full chapter or pages 139-164 specifically in respect of cornering. The route is chosen to optimise the number and variety of bends to facilitate the practice of the theory. It is a mixture of A and B classified roads. Some in the early part of the first section of the ride are narrow single lane carriageways and for this reason where possible you would be advised to make your motorcycle as narrow as you can. The remainder of the route should facilitate a progressive flowing ride where conditions and circumstances permit. For your information on the ride recce there were instances of gravel washout, water running across the road, poor surface condition and potholes in isolated locations and you are advised to remain vigilant to these hazards. The only known roadworks anticipated to be encountered on the route are on the A377 near Weirmarsh where the road surface is poor and the works are remediation. This location is traffic light controlled.

Bookings no longer allowed on this date.
